Planes and stuff

With the new winter season some changes are already beeing felt. Some are just small ajustments, like TAP's flights from Lisbon to Caracas via Funchal. During summer season this flight was made just before lunch time and now got moved back to the afternoon (which is quite a better time for me and for the light...). Also, TAP change its flight numbering system so, this flight is now TP149... Anyway, it was a long time since I last went to the airport to an A330, so decided to conciliate family joy with a couple of quick stops for the spotting. The approach of this flight wasn't quite the usual, with a large approach and then a bit of a short entry into Gelo, heading straight into land followed by a hard banking to the right a then a bit a left banking for final corrections... Was just sitting in front of the computer for another post. Didn't knew what it would be about but decided that had to post something to get the blog going... Checking the other blogs I'm following, noticed that Márcio, from LPMA Spotter blog  was highlighting the 2nd aniversary of the Polish Air Force Tu-154 (102) at Madeira, the "brother" of the 101 that crashed last year at Russia with the Polish President (and lots of other people) on board... It's indeed something that's worth remembering...it was the only Tu-154 I managed to photograph at Madeira. Too bad it arrived and departed during the night...but still, some nice shots... Today, got acepted at Jetphotos.net a cockpit pic of a Boeing 757-300, from Condor (D-ABOE). It was taken back in 2005 in a fantastic meeting I had with a Condor captain with whom I had exchanged some e-mails. D-ABOE cockpit, LPMA, 2005 Anyway, realised that there aren't that many 753 flying these days...so, decided to share a few pics I've taken on these birds... Condor's / Thomas Cook D-ABOL on final to runway 05 D-ABON, with a fantastic special livery, landing on 05, back in 2005 ...and D-ABON, once more, this year and already fitted with winglets...quite a lasting special livery D-ABOK burning rubber in runway 05 D-ABOG, landing on runway 23 D-ABOM taking off from runway 23...

Desde a semana passada que o tempo para publicar novas entradas não tem sido muito e, embora as idas ao aeroporto tenham sido nulas, o que não faltaria eram fotos para seleccionar como foto da semana. No entanto, decidi-me por algo diferente para esta semana. embora ainda no âmbito do spotting: O Ventura. Apesar de não me despertar a paixão que a aviação me desperta, tal como já referi anteriormente, é impossível para um Funchalense, passar ao lado desta temática e desde há muito que tenho um gosto especial por navios de cruzeiro, embora as minhas férias de sonho não passem certamente por uma semana a bordo de algo que, por maior que seja, está a flutuar no mar... Neste caso específico, penso que é uma imagem que vale a pena partilhar, embora, se tivesse podido ir ao terraço apenas 15 minutos antes, tinha apanhado a luz no ponto certo.... Some time ago, was browsing some pics and noticed that hadn't uploaded to Jetphotos any pic of DutchBird. Took care of that and was accepted yesterday or so... PH-DBA, DutchBird's B757 on short final to runway 05 DutchBird (IATA: 5D, ICAO: DBR, Call sign: Dutchbird) was a charter airline based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It operated charter services to the Mediterranean, Egypt, Tunisia and the Canary Islands for a number of holiday companies. Its main base was Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. It ceased operations in December 2004. The airline was established in 2000 and started operations on 22 November 2000 and began operations with a Boeing 757 aircraft leased from Condor Airlines. In 2001, 2002 and 2003 DutchBird was awarded “The best Dutch charter airline”. All flights were stopped in December 2004. (Info from Wikipedia)

Like I mentioned last week, finally caught the DB Regio. Despite the regular Tuifly livery beeing nothing too thrilling (although the yellow livery looks a lot better than the blue one...) still, Tuifly has been the airline that comes to Madeira with the most special liveries and great ones! So, a small selection of these liveries, that I've caught, during times... D-ATUF 's Hapag Lloyd Kreuzfahrt looks a lot like the old Hapag Lloyd livery (but it's a pretty sight indeed...) D-ATUD, the Goldbaren Haribo was also one that I was after for quite a while before getting it... Fantástic livery! D-AHFZ, a nice livery but not too outstanding...never managed to get it in sunny days... The day's I photographed it, the only sun was the one on the tail... D-AHFM, the Blue Haribo looks really nice but the Golden one beats it, no doubt.... D-ATUE the DB1 Regio, really great livery (but the 2, red, looks a lot more colorful...) Only caught it in rainy day

Last Friday, the Smartlynx flight brought us a surprise. The A320 that made the flight from/to Tallinn was made using YL-LCI, still with Aegean Airlines livery. Didn't manage to go to the airport but tought it was a good oportunity to share a couple of pics from, Barcelona where I caught this airline for the first (and only) time... Taken with a small Ixus, through the terminal windows, it gave me quite a work trying to remove that window color cast... SX-DVZ at the stand Taxiing...a little bit more colorfull than the one that was at Madeira. 

Finally, this week managed to get the DB Regio!! D-ATUC, was the last of the special liveries from Tuifly I hadn't photographed and a pretty nice one! It had been here at Madeira a few times but for one reason or another never had managed to get it... This day it came twice to Madeira, from Germany and I promisse I'd get it once no matter what.... Arriving from Stuttgart Easy to notice it was a german day...with an Air Berlin holding short of runway on Charlie Indeed a very nice livery, painted in MAAS Aviation Services, to promote  the Deutsche Regio Bahn

Para hoje, algo de diferente... Depois da publicação das fotos dos veleiros da Transat 6.50 da última entrada, apeteceu-me publicar algo relativo à Esquadra 751, que opera o EH-101, até porque na semana passada, o EH-101 baseado no AM3, na ilha vizinha de Porto Santo, teve de efecuar uma missão de busca e salvamento a um navegador solitário, cujo veleiro (Astragale) tinha sofrido uma colisão com um navio mercante a NW daquela ilha, ao início da noite. O episódio acabaria por ter um final feliz, com o resgate do navegador, que tinha saltado para uma balsa e respectivo transporte para o aeroporto da Madeira, com a Esquadra a fazer, uma vez mais, jus ao seu lema "Para que outros vivam!" Acabei por decidir-me a fazer algo diferente, brincando um pouco com o photoshop.... 19603, numa demonstração SAR (Busca e Salvamento) durante as Comemorações da FAP, em 2010, na baía do Funchal. Nestes últimos dias tenho ido para o trabalho de transporte público. Com vantagens e desvantagens, decidi aproveitar as vantagens e andar com a minha pequena Ixus, para tirar algumas fotos do Funchal, que tantas vezes me passa despercebido, enquanto me desloco pela baixa a pé. Ontem de manhã, decidi passar pela marina, para registar o colorido da presença dos barcos da regata Transat 6.50, que por lá descansam uns dias...(e já agora, aproveitava para umas fotos aos outros "barquinhos", um nadinha maiores, que marcavam presença na "pontinha" (Porto do Funchal)... A luz do amanhecer é realmente fantástica...(haja pachorra para levantar-se e apreciá-la....) Ao fundo, o Aida Sol... Aqui está ele... Os navios da Aida Cruises são visitantes habituais ao fim-de-semana. Normalmente ficam todo o fim-de-semana, partindo na segunda-feira. Most of the times I do concentrate too much on the planes, forgetting everything else, even when the overview it a lot more interesting than the close up... This one was taken in Dec.2009 and was one of those moments that I, fortunatelly, got the bigger picture...

Estava esta semana a ver a noite, quando reparei que a Lua estava mesmo a jeito para umas fotos. Dei comigo a pensar que seria excelente ter a sorte de apanhar um airliner a passar ali em frente mas, não se proporcionou.... ...

Como sabem os que acompanham este blog, não costumo falar de política... Descansem que vou continuar assim, há muitos outros sítios e blogs, etc onde onde se podem entreter com isso.... Vou apenas falar de cidadania e de voto...costumam dizer que o voto é um dever cívico. Mais do que isso é um Direito! Todas as eleições são importantes mas, sem dúvida que as de hoje terão uma importância acima do habitual. Sou apartidário e não vou falar de política...apenas de cidadania....Votem...em quem quiserem mas, vão lá! Afinal de contas, podem dizer o que quiserem na rua mas, o único sítio onde poderão ter mesmo algo da dizer que poderá ter influência será na mesa de voto.

Air Base 5 - Monte Real celebrated this week its 52nd Aniversary. Beeing the home of the Sqn.301 and 201 that fly the F-16, decided to share a few more unpublished pics of these birds at Madeira, taken during PoAF Celebrations, back in 2010 . They're quite rare around here so, it was a nice oportunity for some shots. (You can check a few more pics of the F-16's at Madeira, including flight pics, HERE ). This time, only apron shots.... It's not everyday you get to have some F's at Madeira's apron.... Although I must admit that other PoAF Squadrons, like the Sqn.552 (Allouete III) or the Sqn.751 (EH-101) do level up my interest... Não...ainda não...por enquanto mantém-se por lá o 16505 (versão 100), que chegou no Sábado. De qualquer forma, lembrei-me que ainda não tinha partilhado estas fotos do 17202, um dos 2 Aviocares de modelo 300 que a Força Aérea tem ao serviço, com a Esquadra 401. De fabrico (e entrada ao serviço) mais recente que o outros C-212 , é previsível que estes 2 aparelhos ainda se mantenham ao serviço ainda mais algum tempo.... Durante as últimas férias, tive oportunidade de fazer o gosto ao dedo a este Aviocar, mais raro de apanhar, durante uma escala técnica no Porto Santo, no decorrer de uma missão. As fotos foram tiradas na altura em que se preparavam para partir, de regresso à Base Aérea nº6 (BA6 - Montijo). Altura em que o EH-101 (196011) baseado no AM3 regressava de uma missão de Medevac à Madeira, como Medic 35. taxiando para a pista 36 Deve ser o piloto da 401 que eu mais fotografo... ;)) airborn to Montijo....
